The simple act of frequent handwashing with soap especially before and after eating the school midday meal assist to break disease transmission routes, and contributes to overall health and educational outcomes.
One of the simplest way to maintain good hygiene and bring in manifold health benefits is by handwashing before and after mid day meal. JVPSHS is providing handwashing facilities to pupils and these handwashing sessions are good opportunity for delivering messages on sanitation, safe drinking water and hygiene. Adequate time are allotted (preferably 10-12 mins) before and after midday meal, to ensure that every students and teachers can conveniently wash hands with soap. The school provides handwashing soap and adequate volume of water for handwashing servicing pupils of JVPSHS.
There is a regular supervision and monitoring for the group handwashing with soap for all the students. Each group has a pupil leader that checks there team if they are doing the proper handwashing.
Dental caries is a progressive disease and if left untreated can negatively affect the quality of the affected children. Pain resulting from decayed teeth, can compromise a learner's concentration and participation in school activities, hampering their development and denying them the full benefit of schooling.
The aim of the tooth-brushing scheme was introduced to JVPSHS pupils as a form of preventive activity that would decrease the high levels of caries prevalence among the students in JVPSHS. The tooth-brushing in JVPSHS is a health intervention which is designed with the intention of improving the oral health of young children and with emphasis on the importance of daily good oral hygiene habits.
